Did you know that what you do before bed plays a major role in how you feel the next morning when you get up? By what you choose to do before going to bed at night, you set the stage and decide how your morning will go. It may sound crazy, but it’s true. By being more intentional in what I do in the evenings before bed, I have lowered my stress levels and become so much more productive.
Here are three simple things you can do before you go to bed that will help you start the next day off right.
1. Clean Your Kitchen
There is nothing like waking up to a clean kitchen. Now, I’m not saying that you have to pull out the bleach and the brushes and give your kitchen a thorough scrub down before you hit the hay. Simply making sure the dishes are washed, the sink is clean, and the counters are wiped down will work wonders. If you want to the extra mile for yourself, make sure your morning coffee or tea is all set up. It’s like giving future you a present.
This is something that I learned from FLYlady, and it seriously has made a huge difference in my life.
2. Set Your Clothes Out
Seriously. Deciding what to wear in the morning can take FOREVER sometimes. Save yourself time and heartache by picking out your outfit before bed. That’s right, I said OUTFIT. That includes shoes and jewelry. You are beautiful, and you deserve to feel like the princess or prince you are all day, so put on that necklace or tie!
This is a tip that I learned from Hannah Keeley in her Rockin’ Routines 21 Day Challenge. When I started setting my clothes out and dressing better, I became so much more productive because I felt better about myself.
3. Unplug and Unwind
Put your phone away, turn off the TV, and relax. Read a book, do a devotional, chat with your partner. Whatever you choose to do, spend the last thirty minutes of your day screen-free. It will help you to get a better night’s sleep, which in turn will make you feel rested and refreshed in the morning.
